Hero MotoCorp was rumored to be working on the development of a new scooter named Duet from a long time now. However, there was no official declaration from the company’s stable regarding this news. Interestingly, the auto maker has now revealed the Duet scooter and Maestro Edge at the dealers meet organized in Rome, Italy. Notably, Maestro Edge happens to be a new variant of Maestro, which will be soon introduced in the Indian auto market. Both of these scooters were showcased for the first time to the company’s authorized dealers.
Sources close to the development process have revealed that Duet will be promoted as a family scooter. The scooter features telescopic front suspension, metallic paint, external fuel filling cap, integrated braking system, tubeless tyres, USB mobile charging point and storage light. Once launched, the scooter is expected to square off against the likes of Honda Activa 3G, which is considered to be the highest selling scooter in the Indian market. On the other hand, there is no major happening about the Maestro Edge and thus it is believed that it can be re-badged version of current Duet or an entirely new model.
On this showcase, many industry experts are of a view that Hero MotoCorp is following the strategy of Yamaha, and thus it will keep its entire focus on scooters in the ongoing fiscal. It is believed that the auto maker is himself bored enough of introducing new models in Splendor or Passion line-up and thus looking forward to tap on the opportunities in the scooter segment.
