Japanese car maker Honda recently launched the Jazz in the Indian market and the hatchback has got off on the right foot. Notably, this is the second time the Jazz has been launched in the Indian market and Honda has made a lot of changes in its approach. Though it has begun on the right foot, Jazz has a lot of competition in the Indian market and one of its main rivals is the Volkswagen Polo, which has performed exceptionally well over the years. Let’s take a look at how these two models fare against each other.

      Honda Jazz

Featuring a crossfade monoform design, the Honda Jazz has a bold front portion. The look is further enhanced by the sporty and sleek wraparound headlamps, aerodynamic character lines, tailgate spoiler, rear micro roof antenna, dynamic alloy wheels and premium LED rear tail lamp. Like the previous version of the Jazz, which is now discounted, this car too is loaded with features for complete convenience and comfort. Some of the highlights of the interiors include steering mounted audio hands free phone, premium dashboard with advanced driver interface, auto air conditioning with touchscreen control panel.

Despite these amazing list of attributes, the real USP of Honda Jazz lies in its performance and engine. Available in both petrol and diesel variants, Jazz is powered by 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre engines, respectively. The efficiencies of these engines are raised by the i-VTEC and i-DTEC technologies, which render excellent power levels. While Honda Jazz diesel delivers around 88 BHP and a mileage of around 27.3 kmpl, petrol version renders a fuel economy of 18.7 kmpl at the same level. It has a price range of Rs. 5.3 lakh – Rs. 8.5 lakh.

Volkswagen Polo is a model that aptly represents the class of its manufacturer, which stands for solidity and performance. This hatchback has a simple yet appealing design that features a bold front grille with the Volkswagen badge right at its center. Dual beam headlamps, body coloured door handle, alloy wheels, stylish tail lamps and heat insulating glass for side windows are some of the salient features of this premium hatchback. The interiors of Volkswagen Polo, like the Jazz, are loaded with features, such as sporty steering wheel mounted with controls, powerful air conditioning and a well-equipped centre console. Volkswagen Polo is available in both diesel and petrol version, just like the Honda Jazz. These variants are fitted with 1.5-litre and 1.2-litre engines, respectively.

The USP of Volkswagen Polo is its engine (both diesel and petrol) that renders an excellent performance, delivering mileages of around 20.5 kmpl and 16.5 kmpl, respectively. Volkswagen Polo is available within a price range starting from around Rs. 5.3 lakh and going up to Rs. 8.4 lakh.
