The company has planned to introduce the car in two stages. In the first phase, Chevrolet will unleash the new model in the national capital on 27th June 2012, while the model will be revealed in Mumbai on 29th June 2012 in the second phase. Earlier, the next generation model was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show held in March this year and gained tremendous appreciation from the audience.

Reportedly, the revamped version of Chevrolet Cruze will boast of an improved powertrain. The current edition of the mid-sized sedan is incorporated with a 1991 cc engine, which will be now replaced with a new 1998 cc unit. This upgraded engine will have the potential to churn out a peak power of 164 bhp and 360 Nm of maximum torque, which is better than the output of the current model. Buyers will still have the option to choose from the 6 speed manual and automatic transmissions while buying the new iteration of the model.

The change in configuration of new engine was expected, since it will help the model to deliver improved fuel economy with enhanced acceleration. Both of these factors will surely enable the car to deliver an improved drivability. The fuel economy of upcoming edition of Cruze is expected to increase with the new engine. It is anticipated that the car will deliver fuel efficiency of 11 kmpl in city driving conditions and 15 to 16 kmpl on highways; these figures stand at 9.8 kmpl and 15.3 kmpl, respectively, for the existing model.

Besides the abovementioned advancements, the car will receive only minor modifications as Chevrolet is contemplating the launch of a fully revamped model next year. The next generation version of Cruze will feature the company’s new styling and designing language, which will make it stand apart in the D segment of the Indian auto industry.
