      GM and LG join hands

      In a move that is favourable for both the sides, General Motors and LG Group have decided that they will jointly design and technically handle the production of undisclosed and talked about future electric vehicles. It is believe that General Motors aim to strengthen and work closely in relationship with LG to cash on its facilities as the battery cell supplier for the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera extended-range EVs, the automaker communicated.

      A definite and official agreement has been duly signed of late. The pact would help GM exaggerate the number and types of electric vehicles it produces and disseminates by using LG’s credible and full proof skills and perfection in batteries and other systems. For LG, the move by the General Motors would aid the group to expand and increase the weight of its curriculum vitae by adding another big name to its users list.

      GM vice chairman Steve Girsky said that “Many solutions for future transportation needs may be present and bring to use more quickly by building on the partnership strategy. Consumers are getting exposed to the pros of fuel-saving techniques  by getting the latest fuel-saving technology.

      The extended-range propulsion system in the Volt and Ampera have been able to cut the mustard and led to exploring other collaborations in the electrification of the automobile. In collaboration both the companies will operate and focus on the major components, as well as vehicle contours and production. Vehicles that come as an output from the partnership will be sold in many countries.

      Juno Cho, president and chief operating officer of LG Corp. said that “This is a strategic development for LG and we fully support GM’s goal to lead the industry in the electrification of the automobile”. Timing of the launch of the first vehicles resulting from the partnership will be conveyed in accordance with the situation of the market.
