General Motors India is the wholly owned subsidiary of US based General Motors Co. Its brand Chevrolet has been a successful one in India and the Spark is its most successful model in its product portfolio which includes models as Aveo, Captiva, Optra, Tavera, Forester, SRV, Aveo U-VA and Spark.
General Motors India has serious plans for the Indian auto market. It is targeting a 10 percent sales growth in India and it plans to launch three new products and limited special editions of some of the existing products. GM India has recently launched automatic version of Chevrolet Captiva, its sports utility vehicle in India and the special edition Chevrolet Spark Muzic in India.
The company has launched lucrative offers in India to lure more customers. The company currently has more than 30 lakh Chevy Spark customers across the world. Now GM India is coming out with new and improved editions of its small cars in India.
Chevrolet Spark Muzic was the recent special edition model from General Motors India. The new model comes with host of features including 2-DIN music system, body colored outside rear view mirrors, turn indicators mounted, body colored door handles and a special edition badge.
The company is celebrating its fifth anniversary with “Chevrolet Promise: The Cashless Car Ownership Offer.” This special offer is a unique zero ownership cost scheme which will take care of labour cost, parts for all services, maintenance and running repairs for a period of three years or 45,000 kilometres whichever is earlier. The company launched the offer to give a value-added offer to its customers so that they can truly enjoy the ownership of the car. This offer extends a complete peace of mind and hassle free ownership experience.
General Motors India also plans to roll out a new mini car in India based on Beat concept car that was showcased at the New York Auto Show two years ago. The company intends to lure the Indian customers with a taste of luxury. The mini car shall be locally made and not kit-assembled. The engine and transmission will come from GM's new stamping plant in Talegaon in Maharashtra. GMI's new powertrain (engine and transmission) plant will manufacture petrol and diesel engines in the 1-1.5 litre range. The car will be positioned above the Spark and will be a high-end small car targeting customers of age 25-30 years that will don a completely new design and style thereby flaunting a completely new look.
General Motors India has big plans to India. It has already registered a 9 percent sales growth last year while the overall auto industry reported only 2 percent growth. It further plans to keep the auto market in India vibrating with new offers and schemes well complimented by new product launches and special editions of its existing models.
