While speaking to sources on the incident, Geeta Gawli, Akhil Bharatiya Sena (ABS) candidate, said, “I was at the polling booth number 202 in Byculla with my party workers when I saw MNS workers wearing caps bearing the party symbol and pictures of the MNS candidate Sanjay Naik. It was in violation of the model code of conduct and hence, I immediately called the police control room, after which the police reached the scene. Soon thereafter, I entered my car and the MNS party workers vandalized it. Fortunately, I was unhurt.” Speaking about the incident to sources, S Jayakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police - Zone III, said, “We have registered a case of rioting against four MNS party workers and 20 to 30 unidentified persons after Gawli’s representative registered a complaint with us. We are probing the matter further. The suspects attacked the vehicle while Gawli was inside it, damaging the rear windshield. No one sustained any injuries in the incident.”

Commenting on the situation, Sanjay Naik, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate said, “Gawli and her people tried to force two of my activists into her car. It was while trying to stop her from doing so that a stone was thrown at her car. I am going to inform the Election Commission about this and act further based on their instructions.”
