Italian carmaker Fiat has been planning on taking the domestic market by storm. Post the Avventura crossover launch in the country sometime soon this month, the company plans of launching its much awaited 500 Abarth sometime early next month. Sometime earlier this year, Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and Managing Director, FIAT Chrysler Automobiles India Operations, had said, “Abarth 500 is an iconic car known for its racing performance and the flagship car of the Abarth brand worldwide. We have received positive reviews at the Delhi Auto Expo for our product line up in 2014.”
The Fiat's 500 Abarth has been positioned in the upmarket segment. The 500 Abarth from Fiat shall be powered by 1.4-liter, turbocharged, 4 pot engine. The petrol engine is capable of delivering power output of about 158 Hp with 230 Nm of torque. Apart from this, if reports are to be believed the hatchback may also be offered in ‘Essess’ variant that shall be capable of delivering higher power output of about 161 Bhp. For safety, the vehicle shall be mated with features like anti-lock-braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC). Moreover, 500 Abarth may also receive seven airbags. For enhanced driving experience the Fiat's 500 Abarth shall receive dual-exhaust system and projector headlamps.
Pricing aspect for Fiat 500 Abarth is unknown for now and it is expected to be priced within the INR 25 Lakhs segment. The performance oriented machine is capable of attaining top speeds of about 205 km/hr. To maintain traction points at all times, the vehicle is blessed with Torque Transfer Control (TTC) technology.
