Honda has shut down any suggestion of going in collaboration with another F1 team, citing reasons that it is not ready or equipped to give a second outfit with its current engines. The Japanese manufacturer has made a comeback this year to the hugely popular global sporting event as a supplier of engines to McLaren. However, there have been struggles and a huge competitive atmosphere for reliability in the partnership ever since.

In spite of all these issues, Honda has been rumoured to be considering a supply chain to a second team as well. This means that the company will allow the reserve drivers Kevin Magnussen and Stoffel Vandoorne a place in the F1 race. However, Honda has not directly rubbished the claims, but it seems tough for the company to float another option, owing to the struggles, which it has been facing of late.

Yasuhisa Arai, the Honda Motorsport boss said, “It is a good idea, but we don't have any such kind of plan. I concentrate it on the McLaren Honda one team, that's it.”

Eric Boullier said, “I do agree. I think this project has not started enough to take over a second team. I think there are a lot of jobs that can be done on dynos before we think of having the distraction of a second team.” Honda has recently been connected as a potential contender to supply to the Manor team during 2015 as long as Ferrari boosted up its supply for the accommodation of the incoming Haas outfit in 2016.
