American automobile giant Ford Motor Company has been christened as 2015 World’s Most Ethical Company, according to a study by Ethisphere Institute, which is a management consulting firm from the United States. Quite incredibly, Ford is the only firm from the automobile sector that has got this honour for six years in a row. This list was curated by Ethisphere Institute after considering 132 companies from 21 nations across the globe. Also, firms from 50 industries were considered before creating this list. The only Indian companies on the list were Tata Power, Wipro and Tata Steel.

The framework made by Ethisphere Institute includes the analysis of the firms’ performance and the top rated eventually turns out to be the winner. Factors on which this study is based are innovation; culture of ethics, governance and leadership ethics and compliance, corporate citizenship and responsibility; and reputation.

Bill Ford, the Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company, spoke on this special occasion and expressed his excitement. “This award celebrates doing business the right way, and making the right choices every day. Ethics and corporate citizenship are important factors that affect a company’s reputation and success, and we are proud Ford is the only automaker to have received this honour for six consecutive years.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Ethisphere Institute, Timothy Erblich, also spoke about this development. “The World’s Most Ethical Companies embrace the correlation between ethical business practice and improved company performance. Earning this recognition involves the collective action of a global workforce from the top down. We congratulate everyone at Ford for this extraordinary achievement,” he said.
