The German car-maker Volkswagen had made its presence felt in the Indian market sometime ago with the launch of a reliable hatchback rechristened as Polo. Quality and performance has always been the USP with the Volkswagen line. Design-wise the hatchback never featured a bold and aggressive stance, instead the car was sleek and sporty, true to its Volkswagen image. Rather we say, the car looked mature in comparison to its competitors like Maruti Suzuki Swift or the i20 hatchback that featured more curves and bolder stance.
The new Volkswagen Polo GT TSI has been stated to be faster and exciting than its ancestors. To begin with the car is powered by 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine incorporated with direct injection and turbo-charging functionality. Its worth noting that with the new technology the car is stated to generate power like the discontinued 1.6 version. The car generates an impressive 103 bhp with 175 Nm of max torque. Moreover, the Polo GT TSI is mated to 7 speed DSG automatic transmission. Interiors and exteriors of this car has not undergone major changes. The only major change is from a technical perspective. Surprisingly the car delivered good fuel efficiency of 11.5 kmpl within the city, whereas it returned 14 kmpl on the highway stretches. Technologically the Polo GT TSI is stated to be advanced and faster and is only available as a high-line option.
For the interiors, the hatchback gets a dual tone interior makeover. Power steering comes with additional features like tilting and telescopic adjustment function, manually adjustable side-view mirrors, front power windows, central locking, body colored bumpers, tachometer, engine immobilizer, chrome finished door handles on the inside, prismatic rear-view mirror and tinted tinted glasses come as standard across all Polo variant.
The Exteriors are blessed with smart headlamps that flows smoothly from the front fenders to merge with slim grill. Tailgate lights looks smarter and features a third brake light that has been mated to its sporty rear spoiler. The smooth flowing design renders the hatchback an upmarket feel.
