After Reva G-Wiz, Indica Vista will be the second electric car from India that will be marketed in Europe. The Indica Vista EV has been developed by the UK subsidiary of Tata Motors - Tata Motors European Technical Centre.

Running on lithium-ion batteries, the Indica Vista EV will be faster and peppier than its petrol and diesel variants available in India. The car will have a top speed of 151 km an hour, maximum power of 55 kw at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque, the Tata Motors' application to the commerce ministry said.

The car will be imported as semi-knocked down units from India to Norway. Tata Motors will roll out its electric car project in Norway and later step up the production as per the demands from the Scandinavian markets. The company hopes that the project will turn profitable in next four years.

Tata Motors does not have any plans currently to launch the model in India. "In future, Indica Vista EV could be manufactured in India if sales volumes justify," the company said in its application to the government. Tata Motors also intends to launch the same project in the UK but needs government support. Currently the project seems to be on track and it is being discussed with the UK government without any link to the well known Jaguar Land Rover deal.
