There were 11 Eleanor Ford Mustang cars in total, which were specially created for the 2000 hit Hollywood movie Gone in 60 seconds. The movie was a huge global hi and starred Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie. However, among these cars, only three were actually drivable. Also, two among these cars were destroyed in the climatic bridge jump scene as well as during the junk yard crusher climax. The only left car, which was numbered seven, is reportedly going under the hammer, now.

This Eleanor Ford Mustang will go for auction at Mecum’s first time car auction, which is scheduled to be held at Austin in Texas. The auction is scheduled to be held from December 12 to 13. Approximately, 600 rare and lucrative cars will go under the hammer, which will also include the legendary Mustang (S117 Lot).

This Mustang, a 1967 Ford make, was designed up to resemble a rare Shelby GT500. It traded hands for the last time in May 2013, where it raked up a suave 1 million USD. It is expected that the bids will go quite higher, this time around.

Interestingly, all the Eleanor Mustangs were built keeping in mind the 1967 fastback and were manufactured by Cinema Vehicle Services. Legendary coach manufacturer, Chip Foose, assisted them on this purpose. The most attractive features of this car were central mounted driving lights, a unique hood and trunk and pumped fender flares. Power is generated from a 5.8 litre, V-8 crate engine, which is sourced from the Ford Motor Company. The car is capable of generating a power of 400 horsepower and is mated with a four-speed manual transmission. An interesting aspect is the sale will include a certificate of authenticity form Ray Claridge, the president and founder of Cinema Vehicles Service.

The Mecum auction is set to be all about American muscle cars, ranging from resto mods, classics, hot rods, classics and so many more. Models to look out for will be a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (S105 Lot), which was owned by Mercury Astronaut Gus Grissom. Apart from these, another attractive model, which will stand out is a 1969 Corvette L77 Coupe (S130 Lot). Definitely, the main attraction will be focussed on the Ford Mustang because of its heroics in Gone in 60 seconds.
