Details emerge on Malaysia-spec Audi A3, India launch expected in August

Audi has started promotional activities for its upcoming entry level sedan A3 in Malaysian market. In India the saloon will be launched soon in the upcoming months. Test drives for the premium saloon will be organized in the month of July, therefore it is being inferred that launch could happen sometime in the month of August. A3 has also been caught undergoing test rounds in various parts of India sans camouflage. One of the highly awaited cars in premium segment, A3 will be priced aggressively. Our sources have been able to get their hands on the details on the top of the line Malaysia-spec trim A3 1.8 T Quattro. The 1.8 T is likely to be offered in Sport trim and could get xenon head lights as standard while the LED head lamps can also be made available as optional. Other than these front and rear parking sensor will also be equipped and a 17 inch “Dynamic” split-spoke alloy wheels will be affixed on the wheel arches making the sedan look sportier from outside.

Milano leather upholstery will class up the cabin, Audi will equip the new saloon with an array of features including a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, electrically operated front seats, automatic lights and rain-sensing wipers. Besides these, dual-zone automatic climate control to curb the temperature inside the vehicle, navigation, cruise control, a stop-start system for enhanced frugality and the Audi drive select system will be equipped in the saloon.

Audi Malaysia will spawn A3 saloon in two engine options- a 1.4 litre, turbocharged petrol engine that yields 138 Bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of top torque and a 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol motor engendering 177 Bhp and 250 Nm. A seven-speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox will be paired to both the engines. In India the vehicle will be launched as a completely knocked down unit and will be assembled at the company’s manufacturing unit in India. We expect that there will not be much difference between the Malaysia spec A3 and India bound A3 other than few features that could be excluded to keep the price under affordable tag.
