The popular home grown car designing company DC Design is geared up to shed its image of being just a design house as it would introduce a self-made supercar during the 11 th edition of Auto Expo. Following the launch of the supercar, the company will find a place in the list of full-fledged production house.

The vehicle has been designed and built completely in-house and will be manufactured on a small-scale. The supercar from DC Design will be assembled at the company’s plant in Pune. According to the plans formulated by the company, the supercar will be made available to Indian buyers by the end of 2013.

At present, the company is focussing on seeking approval from the official authority in order to start the production process. Veteran Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan is likely to unveil the supercar at Pragati Maidan, during the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. If the design house is to be believed, the supercar can undoubtedly compete with the likes of Lamborghini Murcielago or Aventador.

The Indian supercar will be powered by Turbocharged Honda V6 petrol engine which will be affixed behind the driver’s seat and between the two axles. The placement of the motor resembles that of almost every European mid-engined supercar. The attractive vehicle will have a kerb weight of around 1550 kg and is expected to generate a maximum power of 394 hp.

Renowned designer Dilip Chhabria said, "With this car, we are making the transformation from a design house to a production house. It will offer the looks, feel, dimensions, quality, fit and finish comparable to super cars from Lamborghini and Ferrari, minus the horsepower."

DC Design is likely to produce 300 units within a time span of one year and will possibly manufacture 3000 units later. "It will come at an attractive price point. We are looking at a price of under Rs. 30 lacs on-road," Dilip Chhabria was quoted as saying. It must be noted that the firm had earlier decided to name the super car 'Buddh'; however, due to a lukewarm response, the design house is looking for another name.

The supercar is expected to contend against a number of big names in the industry and represent the Indian supercar segment at the global level in future.
