Datsun’s latest offering, the Redigo hatchback is being accepted well by the local car buyers. Supporting claims, the company has stated that they have sold close to 3,000 units of the Redigo in just about 23 days of it being introduced in the Indian market. The numbers are particularly impressive for the brand which has been trying to mark its presence in the Indian market.
The earlier Go models failed to evoke sufficient customer interest, but this time around the Redigo’s impressive sales has been a major contributor to the 188 per cent overall sales growth witnessed by the company in the same period last year.
Speaking about Redigo’s success, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “This unprecedented growth of the Datsun brand is due to the phenomenal response Datsun redi-GO is getting from people across the country. These are exciting times for Datsun and we look forward to delivering more cars to our customers.” Along with the new age styling cues, the company claims that the Redigo also offers best-in-segment ground clearance and roominess.
Under the hood, the car comes with a 0.8-litre three-cylinder i-SAT (Intelligent Spark Automated Technology) engine which generates 53bhp of power at 5678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4386rpm. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission the vehicle is capable of achieving a top speed of 140kmph, while it claims of doing a 0-100kmph in about 15.9 seconds. The Datsun Redigo claims to return a fuel efficiency figure of 25.17kmpl.
The Datsun Redigo comes with two year/unlimited kilometresstandard warranty. It also comes withan optional warranty fortwo or three years/unlimited kilometres with free roadside assistance.This givesRedigo owners the option of up to five years/unlimited kilometreswarranty coverage. The new model has been launched in India at a starting price tag of Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
