      As mentioned in our previous article, the Corolla Altis is set to be lauched in the country on 27th May, 2014. The luxury sedan is placed in straight line of competition against recently launched Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Jetta. Currently dealers have been taking orders with a token amount of Rs. 50,000. Post launch, the car is expected to be priced slightly over current 12 Lakh – 16 Lakh price bracket.

      Toyota Corolla has always stood out to people's expectation in the local market and has been known for quality performance. The new version of Corolla Altis also gets a petrol as well as a diesel engine. The petrol variant features 4-cylinder 1.8-litre petrol engine that belts out 149 bhp with a peak torque of 190 Nm. The diesel version is powered by 1.4 Liter D-4D Engine with variable Nozzle turbo and inter-cooler that delivers about 88.4Ps of power. The petrol engine is mated to optional 6 speed manual transmission and a seven-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine is mated to six-speed manual transmission.

      Difference between both the fuel type is restricted to its engine beneath the hood. A new 3-spoke Urethane steering wheel is mounted with consoles and a new monochrome integrated display has been employed that features speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. Finely stitched leather upholstery perfectly combines with the newly developed infotainment system that provides navigation consoles, multimedia system and also Internet connectivity. New compartments have been added for small luggages and seating arrangement has been been designed for a soothing ride. Passengers can also recline the seat according to their comfort and the driver's seat is height adjustable. Also the provision of manual rear sunshade arrives with this car. On the front fascia the sedan sports smart-looking sleek grille. The iconic company's logo is enclosed within its 4-chrome slats. LEDs have been used for daytime running and headlights that are more elongated than its previous generation version. Window panes flaunt a new garnish and rear is assisted by a camera for smooth parking. Also, new 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels enhance the looks of this new car beautifully. Side mirrors are revamped with new looks and are integrated with indicators. Front bonnet is developed meticulously in accordance with new regulations of road passenger safety.

      Safety additions of 8 airbags, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), Vehicle Stability control (VSC) and Brake Assist (BA) are included as a standard feature in this sedan.
