Festive season is nearing in India and this is the time when most of the auto makers line up launches of their new cars or updated versions. Among other new cars and refreshed versions, Mahindra’s Scorpio is one of the most talked about faceifted cars slated to come around festive season. Present in India for over a decade, Scorpio has been and is the most successful SUVs in India. This would be first major upgrade in five years after 2009. Despite that the SUV has been garnering good monthly sales even after induction of new age contemporary SUVs like Duster. The latest tweak will include heavily modified front fascia, head lamps, front grille, bumper and bonnet scoop will be redesigned largely. Minimal changes are expected to be received on the side profile of the SUV, though the new Scorpio is likely to come with redesigned alloy wheels and rear is expected to don reworked LED tail lamps. Major revivifications are likely to be seen in the interiors, including a revamped dashboard with a revised instrument cluster and a modified steering wheel.
Under the hood, the same 2.2l litre mHawk engine is expected to be equipped; the robust motor is capable of engendering a top power and torque output of 120 Hp and 290 Nm respectively. A five-speed manual engine will be mated to the engine while there is also a possibility of six-speed tranny being offered on the new Scorpio.
