India’s leading auto maker, Maruti Suzuki India has witnessed surge in sales of its popular Alto range that had been roping in comparatively low demand owing to stagnancy in domestic market. It has been learnt from sources that MSI sold a total of 30,499 units of Alto range in the month of June as against 17,311 units sold in the previous month. Hence there has been a substantial increase in sales by 13,188 units which is commendable. MSI currently sells Maruti Alto 800 and Maruti Alto K10; hence the sales figure mentioned above is the collective sales for both the models. Last month yet another popular model from MSI’s stable, Swift Dzire turned out to be the highest selling model toppling Alto, however it seems things are back in track for Alto this month.
Effective May, domestic sales have shown signs of improvement, in the month of May insignificant growth was witnessed while in the month of June, overall growth has been reported to be 15 per cent. This also implies at the change in customer sentiment, the sliced excise duty cuts implemented from February and now being continued by the new government has finally paid its due. Auto industry is hopeful that the current sales trend will continue, the General Budget announced recently by the new FM has also been taken positively by the automotive industry.
