General Motors is facing stiff competition in the growing Indian auto industry. In order to increase its market share, the company is planning to launch two all-new cars in the country this year. GM has announced that it will launch the new Trailblazer SUV and the Spin MPV this year. Both cars have been imported to India for testing purpose. While the SUV is scheduled to go on sale by mid-2015, the MPV will be launched by the end of this year.

The Chevrolet Spin MPV is slightly larger than the Enjoy MPV, and will be positioned between the Enjoy and Tavera. This seven-seater family car is 4,360mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,656mm tall, and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2,620mm. The Chevrolet Spin MPV will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol unit will be a 1.4L motor that is good for 104PS of power and 131Nm of torque, the oil burner is a 1.3-litre MJD unit producing 90PS and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels of the MPV via a five-speed manual gearbox.

Talking about the Trailblazer, the company had unveiled this SUV at the 2012 and 2014 editions of Delhi Auto Epxo. And now the company is finally launching this product here. Scheduled to go on sale in mid 2015, the Trailblazer will take on Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe. This SUV is a seven-seater SUV, measuring 4,878mm in length, 1,902mm in width and 1,834mm in height, and 2870mm of wheelbase. Under the hood is a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder unit that churns out 180bhp of power and 470Nm of torque.

This engine is paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox driving the power to all-4 wheels of the SUV. It is equipped with various safety features like Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, Airbags, etc.

The third product that GM is planning to launch in India is the new-generation Chevrolet Beat which will be based on a new platform - Amber - unlike the US-sped model. The design of the product however could be inspired from the US model. Though the company hasn't revealed any details about its launch, we expect it to be showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
