Indian auto industry has geared up for the launch of several new car models in the year 2012 in a quest to entice buyers. Renault is one of the elite names in auto industry, which is ready to capture the Indian auto market. It would be starting off its campaign with Renault Pulse. The launch of this model will soon be followed by the off-roader Duster.

The year 2012 is expected to bring in about 30 car models for the car aficionados in India. However, a major problem that is bothering the car manufacturers is that the Indian economic growth has taken a back seat, mostly due to increase in fuel prices and interest rates. By taking a look at the figures between April through November, car sales have definitely tumbled down by 4%.

Important thing to be seen is what steps the Indian car manufacturers will take in 2012 to boost up their sales. According to car manufacturers, spending money on advertisements is the only solution to tackle the current crisis. Nair from Law & Kenneth stated, "If I am producing 1,000 cars, I need to get them on the road. So auto brands have no other option but to continue spending in marketing and advertising."

The Indian automobile industry is spending money on advertisements more than ever. Tata Motors, Toyota, Honda and Nissan are some of the big names of the Indian car market that have dedicated majority of their budget to advertisements. To tackle the slow growth, Nissan is planning to spend around Rs. 100 crores on promotion in 2012-13. Same is the case with Tata Motors that has kept aside about Rs. 70-80 crores on branding and advertising. Therefore, the year 2012 will witness big names of Indian automobile market spending more on promotional events and turn the scenario in their favour.
