One thing that BMW has been consistent with, other than the quality they have to offer, is the innovations that they come up with in the automobile market. This is why, they are deemed as one of the car manufacturers that bring about a new face of the automobile industry in the market. This year too, BMW Group Innovation Days 2015 launched a prototype of BMW 1-Series that incorporates a water injected turbo petrol unit.

This BMW 1-Series has been packed with a 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine generating 218 PS of power. The thing that tickles the mind of the people is what does a water-injected turbo petrol engine indicates and how does it even work. Well, the water is sprayed in the form of a fine stream into the intake plenum chamber. Evaporation takes place here that helps in extracting energy from the surroundings and also helps in reduction of combustion temperatures in the engines by as much as 25 degree Celsius. This significant shift improves the effectiveness of the vehicle and even helps in generating more power.

These higher numbers at the same working principle stimulates the demand of the system and thus helps in the increase in the sales. Thus, the system is being rendered to achieve heights of success by the German manufacturer. The officials in charge of this project at the car manufacturing unit also state that this water injection system avoids the need to inject additional fuel for the reduction in temperature when the vehicle is working near full throttle.

The company officials also informed that the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car takes in water from a 5L tank in boot which requires topping up every day, whereas in BMW 1-Series prototype, the direct water injection system eliminates the need to top it up every day. The continuous recovery of water is made from the condensed water coming out of the air conditioning system and thus making the prototype, a much more effective model with minimal efforts to be put on the maintenance. The officials also claimed that the vehicle with such a system will be rolled out for public pretty soon.
