      BMW rolls out 111 units of 1 Series M Performance Edition, price starts at Rs 22.65 lakh

      BMW India has launched the 1 Series M Performance Edition in domestic market. Only limited units of the 1 Series M performance Edition will be made available across BMW dealerships in India. It has been learnt that BMW has manufactured only 111 units of the vehicle that will be available for sale for a curbed time period (by August 25, 2014). Rolled out in four variants, the basic 116i M Performance variant is priced at Rs 22.65 lakh, 118d M Performance model is available for Rs 25.60 lakh, 118d Spot M Performance variant is tagged at Rs 28.55 lakh and top end 118d Sport Plus M Performances up for grabs at Rs 32,50,000 (Please note all prices mentioned are Pan-India ex-showroom price). Bavarian auto giant has made a couple of tweaks to the M Performance Edition of 1 Series. Changes made to the exterior comprise of a black front grill, BMW M aerodynamics, performance rear spoiler with fins, performance racing stripes and M performance lettering. Engine configuration has been retained and the car continues to come powered with the same engines that powers standard model. Available in both petrol and diesel guise, the petrol variant gets the 1.6 litre, for cylinder engine that engenders a towering power output of 136 Bhp along with a peak torque of 220 Nm. Diesel trims are packed with the 2.0 litre, four cylinder, twin-power turbo engine that churns out a peak power of 143 Bhp and a top torque of 320 Nm.

      With this special edition, the company expects surge in demand, Mercedes Benz India also launched special edition of A-Class hatchback, regular variant of A-Class is also performing well in terms of sales. Audi India too is contemplating a sub-Rs 25 lakh hatchback for India that will be launched in upcoming time. Hence this segment is slowly gaining momentum in domestic market and is likely to get new entrants in future.
