German automaker BMW seems to prefer going upbeat with modern times. The carmaker has been planning on going for all automatic transmission rather than manual ones. Speaking more on the occasion, Frank van Meel, BMW CEO said to Autocar, “From a technical standpoint, the future doesn’t look bright for manual gearboxes. The DCT [dual-clutch transmission] and auto ‘boxes are faster and they have better fuel consumption.”

For now, the company has not come up with an immediate plan to remove manual variants from the M division line-up. Speaking more on it Meel added, “It's difficult to say we'll stick to the manual, but we still have a big fan community for manuals and we are not going to take away something the customer wants to have.” The M division products are also expected to be limited to about 600Hp and adding more torque would probably make it go over the limits.
