The diesel variants are offered in four different trim levels, namely BMW 320d, BMW 320d Sports Line, BMW 320d Luxury Line and BMW 320d Luxury Plus. However, the petrol variant is offered in single trim, BMW 328i Sports Line. BMW has always been close to perfection, which can be easily observed in its new model too. No matter what the grounds are; the exterior designing, charismatic interiors and a strong engine together make the car stand apart from its rivals.

Launching a perfect blend of luxury and performance in an aggressive price range of Rs. 28.9 lacs to Rs. 36.9 lacs is also the USP of the new BMW 3 Series.

Taking the technical part in limelight, the new model is offered in two engine options. BMW 328i features the petrol engine, whereas the diesel powertrain is assimilated within the 320d model. The petrol variant of new BMW 3 Series is incorporated with a 2 litre four-cylinder inline engine, which has the potential to churn out maximum power of 241 bhp with a peak torque of 350 Nm.

328i has a lightweight engine, which improves the performance of the entire driving chassis, enabling the car to smoothly glide from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.4 seconds. With a remarkable acceleration, it is no doubt that the car attains a top speed 250 kmph. As per the claims made by the company, BMW 328i runs around 14.79 kmpl, which is quite accepted considering the mileages delivered by other players of the same segment.

On the other hand, BMW 320d, the diesel model, holds a 1995 cc engine that generates peak power of 181 bhp with highest torque of 380 Nm. The mark of 100 kmph from initial is achieved within 7.8 seconds, helping it to clock 235 kmph as the top speed. According to the reports issued from the company’s stable, the diesel model of BMW 3 series delivers an impressive mileage of 18.88 kmpl.

Adding to the performance of the new model, both the versions of 3 Series 2012 are mated to an innovative 8 speed automatic gearbox, which has closely-packed gear ratios to make out most of the revving range from the powertrain at almost all the speeds. The special feature facilitates the engine to churn an improved performance with decent mileage as well.

The recently launched BMW 3-Series run on rear-wheel drive chassis and has a ground clearance of 140 mm, which clearly depicts the sporty appeal of the car. With an overall length of 4,624 mm and width of 1,811 mm, the car ensures ample space in its cabin. The wheelbase of 2,810 mm ensures sufficient legroom in both the rows, making the new 3 Series a perfect vehicle for daily commutation.

Keeping in mind all the specifications of new BMM 3 Series, its price does not play a major role. The base variant of BMW 320d is offered with a tag of Rs. 28.9 lacs, whereas the Sport Line, Luxury Line and Luxury Plus of diesel versions are valued at Rs. 31.5 lacs, Rs. 31.5 lacs and Rs. 36.9 lacs, respectively. BMW 328i Sport Line is the top-end petrol, which is provided against the consideration of Rs. 37.9 lacs.

BMW is one of the dominating players in the luxury car market of the Indian auto industry. With the aggressive launch of 3 Series in a competitive price range, it seems that the car maker will soon gain back its lost position from Audi and once again will stand at the top notch.
