      BMW bags 11 prizes at Red Dot Awards 2012 for its innovative design

      BMW, one of the most popular luxury car brands in the global market, has bagged as many as 11 most prestigious awards for its innovative design language during this year’s Red Dot Design Award ceremony. Popularly called as Nobel Prize of design, the Red Dot award has been given by German Institute of Design Zentrum Nordrhien-Westfalen, since its inception in year 1955. The mega award ceremony will be held at Aalto Theatre in Essen, on the 2nd of July 2012.

      The 11 design prices bagged by BMW include ‘Best of the Best’ for ‘BMW AirFlow 2 helmet’ and ‘Husqvarna Nuda 900R motorcycle’; and awards for BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, BMW 6 Series Coupe, BMW M5, BMW 1 Series M Coupe, BMW C600 Sport, BMW C650 GT, BMW K1600 GT and BMW G650 GS.

      The Red Dot awards are not limited to automotive field, as besides cars its special jury of 30 design experts selects exceptional designs in the other fields like architecture, life sciences, medicine and electronics. In this year’s awards, as many as 1800 major companies along with designers from 58 countriestook part, resulting in a total of 4515 nominations in 19 categories. It is not the first when BMW Group has received so many awards in Red Dot design award, as the company bagged 11 awards in year 2010’s and 7 awards in year 2009 year’s edition of Red Dot design awards.
