The luxury car market in India has witnessed a catapult in the recent times leading Audi India to outrival its second biggest contender, Mercedes-Benz to attain the second position in the country. With Audi gearing up to grab the top spot, BMW, another German premium automaker has maintained its poise as the leading luxury car maker in the reign of its current President of Indian operations Dr. Andreas Schaaf.
BMW has made an announcement that owing to a global realignment in the management of the company, Mr. Philipp von Sahr will succeed as the President of Indian operations of BMW with effect from 1st October 2012, while Dr. Andreas Schaaf will be deputed with a new executive position at the company’s headquarters located at Munich.
Dr. Andreas Schaaf took over his position as President in BMW India in April 2010, the tenure for which ranges for 3 years. But as per the management restructure, Mr. Philipp von Sahr will be deputed with the position six months before the completion of the tenure.
Mr. Philipp von Sahr was earlier appointed as the Group’s Head of Sales at Germany and is currently holding his position as the President of the BMW Group Belux (Belgium and Luxemburg). He has completed his MBA from the University of Munich in the year 1986 along with commercial apprenticeship in Industry Sales from Munich based BMW AG and since then, he has been rendering his experienced services to the company.
At present, BMW India is streamlining plans to intensify and cut cross the competition arising from Audi India and Jaguar Land Rover.
