Sources have suggested that Bentley may have closed in on a diesel motor for its SUV, the Bentayga. Bentley has been looking for a suitable engine to go into the Bentayga for quite some time now, so that it can offer owners an even more satisfying drive.
As per reports, Bentley is eyeing the 4.0-litre diesel V8 motor that currently does duty in the Audi SQ7. This is the kind of engine this application needs, especially with its capability to do the 0-100kmph in 4.8sec, and unleash 900Nm of torque. Not to forget that there is zero lag thanks to the 48 volt compressor.
Unlike how the current car’s W12 petrol motor can be whipped all the way to the red-line, owners would better appreciate a surplus of low-end grunt from their Bentayga with the diesel heart. While there is no official communication on when the diesel version of the Bentayga could hit the international market, it should find its way here ultimately, thanks to the Indian consumer’s love for diesel SUVs.
