      Auto makers to play bullish on the India market, a handful of UV launches slated for the 2012 festive season

      Some of the big brands in the Indian auto industry seems ready to woo the auto enthusiasts before the end of 2012 with the launch of few exciting models. Already the industry has witnessed a number of new launches till now, which made the chapter of Indian market even more interesting. However, the calendar year is not yet over and thus, a number of surprises are yet to come out of the box. Considering the fact that Indian auto industry has recently witnessed a boom in the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment, cartrade.com has come up with a plethora of UVs that are scheduled to be launched before the end of this year comprising offerings from different manufacturers.

      Heading the bandwagon, Tata Safari Storme hits the list of most anticipated models, which is expected to sparkle at the Indian showrooms somewhere in September, 2012. With an estimated price of Rs. 9 to Rs. 11 lacs, it seems that the auto major has designed a new model using several components from the last generation model. Earlier, the domestic player showcased its upcoming model at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and was able to pull the masses.

      Next in the proposed line-up is Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton, which is also anticipated to mark its presence in the industry somewhere in September this year within an expected price range of Rs. 18 to Rs. 20 lacs. The major USP of Rexton will be its unique build and appealing styling, which will surely make the car stand apart from other contenders of the same segment. Powered with a 2.7 litre in-line engine, the new model in UV line-up will assist the auto maker to extend its foothold in the UV segment of the Indian auto industry.

      Following the league, Nissan has come up with its Evalia, which is classified as an Urban UV and is expected to hit the Indian shores by September. Analysts speculate that the car will be priced between a bracket of Rs. 11 lacs and Rs. 13 lacs and will square off against the likes of Tata Aria. The model has mainly appeared in the limelight because of its practical design and sliding door concept. Owing to this concept, it is believed that the car will emerge as a prominent option in the mini van segment, post launch.

      Ford is also planning to launch a revamped version of its Endeavour in the same month. However, the American auto maker has not yet revealed any detailed information regarding its new model. Considering the images of new model that are making rounds over internet, it seems that the upcoming model will not defer much against comparison from the previous generation model. Industry experts believe that the auto major will place its new model in a price range of Rs. 17 lacs to Rs. 20 lacs, shifting it little over the pricier side.

      Being a member of new launches, Force Motors has also registered its name with the plans to introduce its One SUV in 4x4 drive chassis. It is anticipated that the company will pull off the curtains from its much hyped model somewhere in October, 2012. Force Motors is well-known in the country for offering best-in-class Commercial Vehicles (CVs) and now the auto maker is planning to enhance its presence among the UV manufacturers. With an estimated price range of Rs. 11 to Rs. 13 lacs, the upcoming model from Force will deliver a stiff competition to Mahindra XUV500.

      In the same month, Mahindra has again grabbed some space in the list considering the launch of its Mini Xylo. Within a price range of Rs. 6 lacs to Rs. 8 lacs, Mini Xylo will be an appropriate contender in the MPV segment. Test mules of the car have been spotted several times doing rounds all over the country and thus, its launch is much awaited by the auto aficionados.

      Mahindra Ssangyong Korando is next contender in the list, which is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of 2012. It is believed that the massive SUV from Mahindra Ssangyong collaboration will be assimilated with a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which will belt out a maximum power of 147 bhp with a peak torque of 360 Nm. Industry experts believe that the car will be offered against a price consideration of Rs. 16 lacs, however nothing is confirmed as of now.

      Last but not the least, the completely owned division of General Motors, Chevrolet has also appeared in the limelight regarding the launch of its much-anticipated MPV, Enjoy. Slated to be launched in October this year, Enjoy will be offered within a price bracket of Rs. 7 and Rs. 9 lacs. It is believed that the model will be offered in both – petrol and diesel guise, wherein former model will hold a 1.3 litre engine and latter will be incorporated with a 1.4 litre powertrain. With a much-awaited launch in the festive season this year, the auto maker seems set to bank on the increasing penchant of big-sized vehicles among the Indian buyers.
