Tata Nano, one of the most popular and most fuel efficient car in the Indian market, will soon be launched in a CNG version in the country. The move is seems to have been taken following a sharp rise in the price of petrol in the Indian market.

Moreover, the company is also planning to expand its footprints in the high potential neighboring markets like Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Bangladesh. In addition to this, in the next fiscal, the firm is planning an investment of Rs 3,000 crore to expand capacity and develop newer products.

While speaking to the reporters at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012, Mr. P M Telang, Tata Motors' Managing Director, said, "Nano CNG is clearly on the cards. We plan to launch it very soon. Hopefully, we should be rolling it out this year." He added, "We might look for an appropriate car for the European market. The current Nano, as it is introduced in the India, would probably have different emission and safety specifications from that of the European market. So it has to be a substantially different car."

At a time when fuel expenses are going higher and higher, a CNG version of Nano is expected to receive an overwhelming response in the Indian auto market.
