German luxury car maker Audi had confirmed last year that it intends to launch the A7 model in the Indian market. Now the company is finalizing its plans to introduce the car in the domestic market. Audi A7 is expected to be launched by early 2011 in the Indian market. The car has already been launched in Munich at the art museum “Pinakothek der Moderne.” The company described the model as five-door coupe offering a choice of two petrol and two turbodiesel V6 engines.
The new Audi A7 gets its design cues from A6 and A8 and carries striking sports car model design as well. The exterior is accentuated by the coupe-ish roof-line that merges into the C-pillar much like the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo. Audi did not provide powertrain details, other than to say the base engine would be a 201-horsepower 3.0-liter TDI. Driving the front wheels through a Multitronic continuously variable automatic transmission, the 3.0 TDI returns 18.7 kmpl of mileage. This is yet another trend setting technology from Audi engineers that are geared up to offer more fuel efficient engines as well as greener technology to the future world.
The model will compete with Porsche Panamera and Mercedes Benz CLS models in the Indian market.
