The Indian unit of the Germany based leading luxury car maker Mercedes Benz is geared-up to launch its new Mercedes SLK Class model in the Indian market today. Introduced to the global market in January 2011 at Stuttgart, the SLK model marks the 125th birthday celebrations of the Brand Mercedes.
Developed with a new rear-wheel drive platform, Mercedes Benz SLK 350 will be featuring Mercedes’ new V6 engine. Powered by a 3.5L direct-injection engine, the SLK 350 is capable of delivering a peak power of 306bhp. The powerful engine of the car is coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The new SLK model will be blessed with a fabric roof as compared to the folding hard-top of older version of the car. The buyers will be having an option to choose from standard aluminum fixed-tint glass and electro-magnetic variable-tint glass panel.
Inside, the car will be hosting a slew of upgrades including new dashboard, distinctive vents, new instruments, a new range of trims etc.
The car will be launched with the ex-showroom price tag of Rs 65 lakh and will be fighting for space with the likes of BMW Z4, Porsche Cayman and Boxster, and the Audi TT.
Mercedes is currently the second largest luxury car maker following BMW at the top spot. The company aims to regain its leading position with launch of a series of new cars along with expanding its foot prints in the Indian auto market.
