Launched in 2000, Honda Activa has been one of the most successful gearless scooters in the country for more than a decade now. Activa was even named the best-selling 2 wheeler in the country in 2014 by Economics Times, outrunning the Hero Splendor. But owing to the growing number of competitors in the 110 cc scooter segment, which includes Mahindra Gusto, Suzuki Let’s, TVS Jupiter, Scooty Zest, Hero Maestro and Yamaha Ray, Honda has decided to launch a revamped version of its most successful two-wheeler in the country.

Notably, this won’t be the first time that the company would be rebooting the Honda Activa. The first time Activa was revamped was in the year 2009. It was fitted with a 109 cc engine instead of a 102 cc engine. Along with a higher power output, it also came with many new features like combi-brake, key shutter and improved fuel efficiency. Honda also launched Activa-I in the year 2013, a cheaper and more stylish version of the Activa.

The new Honda Activa, codenamed ON2Y, is expected to be released on 4th Feb along with a slew of other new products by Honda. Reports claim that the new Activa looks almost the same and comes with a few minor tweaks only. The technical configuration remains the same with 109.2 cc air cooled petrol engine that powered its older versions. This engine is capable of producing 8 bhp of power and 8.74 Nm of torque. The brand new Activa will still come with the patented Honda Eco Technology and is expected to be more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

In terms of looks, the leaked photos of the new Activa don’t show much difference there. The new Activa gets 3G badge on both the sides. The tail lamp looks reworked and the scooter, overall, looks leaner. Honda is expected to release Activa in 2 more new colors. The scooter is anticipated to fall in the same price range as its predecessor. While the new Activa 3G is being launched, the Japanese auto maker might end up revealing one of its many upcoming motorbikes including CBR250R, CBR150R, CBR500R and CBR650F.
