Renault Duster has been a benchmark model for the French auto maker. The car has won several accolades and awards, and reported 1 lakh sales mark in record time. Late last year, Renault came up with the all new 4x4 version of Duster, called the Duster AWD. The Duster AWD looks almost similar to its older sibling and comes with a few minor cosmetic changes. The car features ‘Anthracite’ alloy wheels, darkened headlamps and Matte black B-pillars. Its cabin has received many significant changes, and now comes with a three-pod instrument cluster, which comes with an instantaneous fuel consumption meter. There is a new 3-spoke steering wheel in place, and its interiors get a dual-tone treatment.

The new Duster comes with the AWD (All Wheel Drive) system that is the new electronically controlled 4x4 system put in place by Renault. The car feels just perfect for off-roading, thanks to the Anti-Skid resistance and ESP systems present within the car. The 215/65 R16 MRF Wanderer tyres also helps the car hold-its-own on rough tracks, while off-roading. There are three modes on the selector knob, 2WD, Auto and lock. While kept on ‘2WD’ the car is permanently kept on front-wheel drive. When kept on Auto, the car automatically sends portions of the power to the rear wheels depending on the traction in the front tyres. Moreover, the Lock mode keeps the car in a 4x4 mode up to around 60 kmph after which, it shifts back to the ‘Auto’ mode.

Coming to its technical configuration, the car comes equipped with the same 1.5-litre diesel, dCi engine, which is capable of churning out a highest power of 109 bhp with torque of 245 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that has shorter gear ratios, giving a snappier in-gear acceleration.
