The second generation Porsche Panamera has been unveiled at a function in Germany. This 2017 model had been leaked last week and had showcased a completely revised design for the German sportcar maker’s first four-door sedan.

The biggest upgrade is visible in the interior which has now moved to a minimalistic design but with all the latest technologies.  This upgrade includes a new digital instrument cluster, massive touchscreen display and capacitive touch screens on the centre console replacing most of the buttons.

As is the case with any Porsche, the exterior design has been evolutionary rather than revolutionary. New elements include the LED dot headlamps, lower stance and completely new design for the lights at the rear. The car has gotten longer and wider but still retains that iconic stretched out Porsche design.

Now for the more interesting bit- the engine lineup.  Every car has now moved to the turbocharged option like the 911. The 4S gets a 3.0-litre V6 petrol that produces 434bhp and 550Nm of torque. The much more powerful Turbo gets a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 that produces 542bhp and 770Nm of torque. Finally, the India relevant 4S diesel gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 416bhp and 850Nm. All cars are only offered with an eight-speed dual clutch.

Standard options include an air suspension while those who want a bit more turn in can also order for the rear-wheel steer feature. Latching on to the advanced driving techniques, the new Panamera now makes use of GPS combined with  radar system to scan the road ahead and adjust the car.

This car will go on sale in Europe later this year and is expected to reach the Indian shore in mid-2017.
