Tata Motors, the homegrown automaker, is trying hard to revive the sales of its popular SUV 'Safari'. The company is ready to launch the updated Safari Storme with more power and improved interiors. It is expected that the vehicle will go on sale next month; however, the company is yet to announce the exact launch date. Ahead of its possible launch in May, the vehicle has been spotted in a dealer yard.
Talking about exterior, the Safari Storme facelift gets subtle changes. It features a new honeycomb grille and airdam and slightly revised headlamps. The fenders of the SUV are expected to get a 'Varicor400' badge, which indicates the increase in torque value over the current model. Other than the aforementioned changes, the SUV expected to remain the same.
Inside the cabin, the Safari Storme facelift is equipped with a new 3-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Zest/Bolt. The multifunctional steering wheel features controls for the new music system. There is a silver finish on the centre console. Also on offer is a 2-DIN music system that comprises of CD, MP3, Radio, AUX, USB and iPod.
Under the bonnet is the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder Varicor diesel engine, which is tuned to churn out 160PS of power and 400Nm of torque. This engine produces 20PS of more power and 80Nm of more torque over the current model. The engine will continue to feature a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. The Safari Storme facelift will rival against the likes of Mahindra Scorpio.
