      Yamaha Saluto 125cc Motorcycle launched at Rs. 52,000

      Yamaha India today launched the new Saluto commuter motorcycle in the country. The new commuter motorcycle is priced at Rs. 52,000, ex-showroom, New Delhi. According to the company, the new 125cc Saluto is based on the concept of "Economical & Practical Indian Family Motorcycle". It is claimed to be the lightest vehicle in the 125cc class.

      Based on the company's Blue Core Engine Development ideal, the motorcycle has been powered by a newly-developed air-cooled, single-cylinder 125cc engine. This engine features a comparatively compact combustion chamber than other Yamaha's engines. The 125cc engine is capable of producing a top power output of 8.3PS at 7,000rpm and 10.1Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. This engine is coupled to a four-speed transmission, and is claimed to return an impressive 78kmpl of mileage.

      The Yamaha Saluto motorcycle's braking system comprises of 130mm drum brakes at both ends. It is based on a diamond frame, and it has the lightest weight in its class at 112kg. The Saluto measures 2,035 mm in length, 700 mm in width, 1,080 mm in height and it comes with 1,265 mm of wheelbase. It comes with a large ground clearance of 180mm, which makes driving easier on rugged Indian roads. The bike has a 7.6litre of fuel tank. The suspension system comprises of telescopic forks up front and a swingarm at the rear.

      Speaking at the launch, Mr. Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said: "The two wheeler market in India reached 16 million units in 2014, thereby, becoming the world's largest two wheeler market. The motorcycle market contributes to 68 per cent of the total two-wheeler market at 11 million units out of which, the 110-125cc motorcycle class is the largest category at 9 million units. The new Saluto is intended to expand sales in the largest demand category in India by offering one of the best fuel economy performances in the 125cc class".
