After unveiling 2015 Skoda Fabia globally through online media, the company has now commenced series production at its prime manufacturing facility located in Mlada Boleslav, in Czech Republic. Skoda will also put the car for public display at the upcoming Paris Motor Show slated to begin from October 9, 2014. The 2015 Skoda Fabia will make its debut in European markets first around end of this year. India launch is yet uncertain, however if brought to India the hatchback will cross swords with the likes of Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Tata Bolt, Hyundai Elite i20 and new Honda Jazz.
Fabia’s new generation will be rolled out in seven engine options including four petrol and three diesel engines. Petrol range includes a 1.0 litre, three pot engine borrowed from Volkswagen Up! will deliver power in two states of tune- 60 Bhp and 75 Bhp. Both the engines will be synchronized to a five-speed manual transmission. A 1.2 litre TSI petrol engine again outputting varied power of 90Bhp/160 Nm and 110 Bhp/175 Nm will also be out on offer. The 90 Bhp variant of 1.2 litre engine will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while the 110 Bhp variant will be paired to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Diesel line-up of new Fabia will get 1.4 litre, three cylinder engine delivering power in three states of tune-75 Bhp, 90 Bhp and 105 Bhp. All these engine options will be coupled to a five-speed manual tranny only. Inside the cabin, there is ample bottle storage space, around seven bottles can be stored inside. Other preeminent equipments include SmartGate that permits to transfer vehicle data to smartphones, MirrorLink infotainment system enables to display driver’s mobile phone apps on the screen embedded inside the cabin. The hatchback will also offer ample luggage storage space of 330 litres and will boast of a 2 cm wider entrance space.
