In a bid to improve the sales of Mahindra Quanto, the home-grown automaker will introduce the car's facelift in coming months. The 2015 Quanto facelift has recently been spotted during testing rounds, and the new spy shots suggest that it will be a much improved product than the existing one. The compact SUV's exterior design looks different with new headlight cluster, daytime running lights, modified bumpers, a new front grille and revised bonnet.
The interior, too, receives a new layout with improved styling and equipments. The facelifted model might get a new music system, dashboard cluster and steering wheel design. However, the seats configuration (5-seater with two rear jump seats) will remain unchanged. The new Quanto will continue to be powered with the same 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine churns out a maximum power of 100PS at 3, 570rpm, while producing a peak torque of 240Nm at between 1, 600rpm – 2, 800rpm.
Mahindra might also add AMT (automated manual transmission), called Auto Shift, to the new Quanto line-up. The new Mahindra Quanto, if launched, will be the first compact SUV to get an AMT in India. Expected to be priced between Rs. 6.5 lakh – Rs. 8.5 lakh, the Quanto facelift will compete against the Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming compact SUV.
