2015 Tata Safari Strome facelift's first pictures

In an earlier report, we brought you the leaked brochure of the facelifted Tata Safari Strome, now the first clear pictures of the vehicle have hit the interweb, thanks to 'Motoring World' that claims to have driven the car. Receiving some cosmetic and mechanical changes, the new Tata SUV is expected to be an improved product than the existing model. The 2015 Safari Strome will share the hydro-formed chassis with the outgoing model and Tata Aria.

The updated version of the SUV will feature the Land Rover Freelander 2–inspired new honeycomb grille and air dam intake. The Varicor badging on the front fender denotes the updated powertrain. The engine is slightly tweaked for extra power outputs, i.e. 10PS. The 2.2-litre, 16V ‘Varicor’ diesel engine now produces a maximum power of 150PS at 4, 000rpm, while the peak torque 320Nm between 1, 700rpm and 2, 700rpm remains the same. The 5-speed manual transmission, too, remains unchanged.

Surprisingly, the facelifted Safari Strome will get a new self adjusting clutch with 260mm diameter fly wheel. Despite improved power, the handling and driving dynamics of the SUV remain similar to the old model. On the inside, the SUV gets a new steering wheel, inspired from the Zest and Bolt, with mounted audio controls. The new trims and colors on the door panels and dashboard and improved ergonomics create a refreshing cabin. Other significant interior updates include a new Harman entertainment system that supports Bluetooth, UBS and Aux-in and the 4WD selector knob on centre console, offered only on top variant (VX 4x4).
