Hyundai has revealed the 2015 Sonata saloon at the on-going New York Motor Show that commenced yesterday. The seventh generation of Sonata looks aggressive and is loaded with additional features. Cosmetic touch ups have been done rendering a sharper look to the front and a distinct rear. Sonata scores hand down high on style quotient as compared to its rivals. Thanks to the new chassis bestowed upon new Sonata and roomier boot, the saloon has metamorphosed to a bigger saloon.
Plenty changes are visible on the new Sonata including surfeit technological additions. Hyundai has introduced significant safety features in the new Sonata which includes new software developed specifically for the safety of driver. This software equipped in the saloon enables blind spot monitoring, radar-guided adaptive cruise control, lane changing notifications and advanced collision mitigation technology.
Plethora changes have been made inside the cabin including a styling upgrade, the new Sonata has borrowed control layout from the 2015 Genesis luxury sedan. Touchscreen navigation system will be offered as optional feature and remotely openable trunk via the proximity key will also be present.
Hyundai has made minor tweaks to the current engine line-up of Sonata which will be packed in the seventh generation of the saloon. New Sonata’s engine line-up includes a four cylinder standard mill engendering 185 Hp, a turbocharged motor generating 245 Hp will be offered on Sport trim. Engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, Hyundai will not equip manual transmission in any of the trims.
The company will manufacture new Sonata at its manufacturing plant located in Alabama. Expected to launch by third quarter in global markets, this year, the saloon will compete against the likes of new Toayota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima and Mazda6 globally.
As far as India launch is concerned, Hyundai is likely to bring 2015 Sonata to India, however there is no clarity on the launch time of the saloon yet.
