      Nissan Versa facelift aka Sunny unveiled at New York Auto Show

      2015 Nissan Versa has been revealed at the ongoing New York Auto Show. The compact sedan is sold in India as Sunny, a facelift version of Sunny is due to launch in India by the festive season. Versa has been crowned the best selling sub-compact vehicle for the past four years.

      Among thepre-eminent changes made to the compact sedan, bigger head lights, chrome lining on thefront grille and fog lamps are included. The top-spec trim SL, gets OVRM integrated with indicators, on the other hand SV trim is being offered with 15-inch alloy wheels. Similar changes are expected to be seen in the India-spec Sunny sedan.

      2015 Nissan Versa will be made available in four trims, S, S Plus, SV and SL in US market. The basic S variant will be offered in 5-speed manual and a four speed automatic gearbox. S Plus and SL trims will be proffered only in next-generation Xtronic CVT gearbox with D-mode step shift programming. Nissan has packed new Versa with a 1.6 litre HR16DE, four cylinder motor pumping out 109 Hp at 6,000 RPM and 145 Nm at 4,400 RPM.

      Nissan Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President Andy Palmer and Nissan North America, Inc. Chairman, Management Committee and Executive Vice President José Muñoz were present at the unveiling ceremony.

      Commenting on the occasion, Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President Nissan, Andy Palmer said,"In the past three years, Nissan has completely transformed its product portfolio, grown global volume by more than one million units, strengthened the brand to being the fastest-growing automaker on the Interbrand Top 100, resulting in the shake-up of entire auto industry segments,". He further said, "Murano helped create a new segment, and the latest version, debuting today, redefines that segment."

      Nissan North America, Inc. Chairman, Management Committee and Executive Vice President José Muñoz who was also present at the unveiling said, "We have ambitious growth targets for the Nissan brand, and these goals are supported by increasing consumer demand for our newest products. In the last 12 months, Nissan brand sales were up nearly 15 percent in the U.S. due to positive customer response to new vehicles like Versa Note, Pathfinder and Rogue. Now with the new Murano coming this fall, we expect this momentum to continue as we're poised to set even better numbers for 2014, including increased market share."
