The Indian auto industry saw the launch of a number of exciting cars across variegated segments in the year 2011. Mahindra XUV 500, Hyundai Eon and Volkswagen Jetta are some of the cars that made their mark in the market in their respective segments.
Hyundai Eon received a staggering response in two months of its launch, hitting the sales mark of 13,733 units. This entry-level hatchback has a total of six variants that come at a starting price tag of Rs. 2.70 lacs. The car boasts of ARAI-certified average of 21.1 kmpl, making it best-in-class. The visually striking elements in Eon that add to the style statement are the slightly pronounced wheel arches and the integrated roof spoiler. With Eon, Hyundai has given a new-age car to the Indian customers.
Another car that received moderate response in 2011 is Volkswagen Jetta. This car by the German manufacturer offers the blend of elegant looks and numerous features. The Jetta is equipped with a 2.0-litre, 140 hp diesel engine with both manual and automatic transmission options. The car comes in four trims and six shades and sports a price tag of Rs. 14.12 lacs.
