      Hyundai India sales surge 3.6 percent during December

      Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), the country’s second largest car maker and the largest car exporter, has registered a marginal increase in its sales of 3.6 percent in the month of December 2011. The company managed to sell 48,949 units as compared to 47,228 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the company managed to register an increase of 12.8 per cent by selling 29,516 units during the month, as compared to 26,168 units sold in the same month last year.

      On the other hand, exports of the firm dipped 7.7 per cent to 19,433 units during this month as against 21,060 units dispatched to the overseas markets, in the month of December 2010.

      The small A2 segment of cars of the company remained the major contributor in the sales during this month. The total sales of Hyundai Eon, Santro Xing and i10 models stood at 42,624 units in this month. While the A3 segment (Hyundai Accent and Verna sedans) accounted for a sales of 6,247 units during December 2011.

      The high segment models including Hyundai Sonata Transform and new sports utility vehicle Hyundai Santa Fe stood at 11 and 67 units, respectively.
