At a time when leading car makers in the country are struggling with slowing down sales, the Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Toyota has registered a jump of 83.82 per cent in its sales in August 2011. The company sold a total of 11,693 units of its portfolio models during this month as compared to 6,361 units sold in the same month last year. The company’s sales were mostly driven by recently rolled-out Etios series hatchback Liva and segment leader MUV (multi utility vehicle) Innova.

Commenting on the company’s performance during the month, TKM Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh, said, "The growth is primarily led by our flagship model Innova and our latest offering Etios and Etios Liva. We are now looking forward to the festival season."

While the sales of entry level sedan Etios stood at 2,710 units, the Liva hatchback clocked sales of 2,824 units. On the other hand, the sales of Innova, premium sedan Corolla Altis and SUV Fortuner stood at 4,305 units, 913 units and 897 units respectively.

Meanwhile, the company is all set to roll-out the diesel versions of its Etios series of cars in the Indian market on 9th September 2011. This will include a new diesel version of Liva hatchback and starting range sedan Etios.
