      Mahindra & Mahindra sales surge 30 percent during August

      Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the largest diversified auto makers in the Indian market, has registered a jump of 30.38 per cent in sales during the month of August 2011. The company managed to sell 37,684 units of its vehicles during this month as compared to 28,903 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the company registered a surge of 31.09 per cent at 35,756 units as compared to 27,275 units sold in the same month last year.

      The passenger car sales (including Xylo, Bolero, Scorpio and Verito) of the company stood at 15,664 units as against 13,796 units sold in the same month last year, accounting for a sales surge of 13.54 per cent. The erstwhile badly performing Logan sedan is now registering high sales with its new name Verito. The sales of Verito model stood at 1,710 units during the month as against 801 units sold in the same month last year.

      Speaking on the occasion, M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Rajesh Jejurikar said, "We have been able to maintain a healthy growth of 30 per cent in August, in spite of increasing pressures on the automotive industry. Verito has continued its growth momentum having sold 1710 units in August."

      The company’s exports surged 18.43 per cent to 1,928 units during August 2011 as compared to 1,628 units sold in August 2010.
