Volvo Trucks has achieved a new landmark on June 18, 2015 by delivering 10000 trucks to India. The 10000th vehicle was the newly launched Volvo FMX 440 8x4 i-Shift, which was recently launched by the company and was handed over to M/S Mahalaxmi Infracontracts Pvt Ltd. It has now over 350 Volvo trucks to its name and has maintained almost a decade-long relationship with the Swedish company.

The grand occasion was welcomed by Pierre Jean Verge Salamon – President of Volvo Group Truck Sales in India and Rama Rao A S – the SVP Sales, Marketing and Aftermarket of Volvo Trucks, VECV. The ceremony was conducted at Bengaluru. Volvo Truck has had a long-heritage in the country right from the time it stepped its foot in the country in 1998. It was the first company to launch fully air-conditioned as well as crash tested cabin in trucks in the country. Also, Volvo was the first company to lead the Driver Training Concept in the country by launching the Driver Training Centre. This was launched even before the launching of the first truck in the country. Also, the company was instrumental in launching the concept of container workshop through the Volvo Action Service and providing on-road assistance even at remotely located mining zones.

Our long tradition of developing market-leading technology and solutions with products operational for over 45,000 engine hours in tough and challenging Indian mines is proof of this. Today Volvo Trucks facilitate around 1/3rd of coal production in India by moving overburden in the mines and in the process has been driving progress for the country. The support from the industry has been encouraging and has helped us deliver what it takes. Yet, for Volvo Trucks and our customers, our most recent innovation is just the beginning.”

From the first high performance European tractor trailer to the recent launched technologically advanced truck range, we have personified performance, productivity and profitability for our customers. We understand what our customers need and will come to need. That is why we constantly innovate.Reaching the 10,000 mark is a testimony to the fact that the new high tech capabilities and the wide range of benefits of our offerings are suiting the Volvo customer.”
