      Volkswagen unveils new revolutionary MQB platform

      The largest European car maker Volkswagen AG has unveiled its much talked about next generation platform – MQB. According to the company, the new MQB platform, which stands for Modular Transverse Matrix, is the backbone of light and safe cars. The company claims that the new MQB platform is a highly flexible one, on not only small hatchbacks like Golf can be made, but the big sedans like Passat.

      It is to be mentioned here that the company will be manufacturing a range of its future models at this new platform including new age model of hatchback Polo, midsize sedan Vento, and premium sedan like Volkswagen Jetta and Passat. Moreover, a number of other brand vehicles of Volkswagen AG group will be manufactured at MQB platform including Audi’s upcoming three door sedan A3 and Skoda’s new age Octavia sedan.

      The new platform will enable to the company to produce all of its portfolio models on a single platform, helping in reducing cost as well as time. The revolutionary platform will also help the firm in reaching its target of becoming the largest car maker in the world by year 2018, by launching more and more new products within a short span of time.
