      Volkswagen India gets a new Marketing Head - Kamal Basu

      German carmaker Volkswagen gets Kamal Basu as the new head for marketing and PR in India. Basu has undertaken the new responsibility with Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited (VWGSIPL) effective from 1st January 2015. Prior to joining the group, he has previously held the position of Marketing head in 2012 while being employed with Skoda Auto India. In the past he managed responsibilities for product marketing, communication, lead management and media. Moreover, he has also closely worked with sales, after-sales and dealer network teams.

      In the past, Basu has also reportedly worked at CEO level with some of the top-level agencies namely - RK Swamy BBDO, Re-diffusion Y&R and with Saatchi & Saatchi. Speaking more on the occasion, Kamal Basu said, “I’m happy to have contributed to Skoda’s performance in India over the last three years, and am happy to take up the new challenge of bringing fresh thought and new ideas to Volkswagen India’s marketing effort. Volkswagen is an iconic automotive brand with great history and a strong legacy, and I hope to make a contribution towards the growth of this brand in the Indian car market.”

      Commenting further on Basu’s appointment, Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “We are pleased to welcome Kamal on board here at Volkswagen India. Kamal is a seasoned marketing professional and I’m sure he will be a strong and valuable addition to our team. Kamal will play a key role in further developing the strengths of the Volkswagen brand in India.” Basu comes with a marketing management degree from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, and in terms of hobbies, he is passionate about cricket, traveling and Indian movies.
