Following months of speculations and a grand debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new Volkswagen Ameo has arrived in the Indian market. Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that’s paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Ameo can be had in three different variants – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
Trendline
Priced at Rs 5.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the Ameo Trendline is the entry-level variant that covers pretty much all the basic features. On the outside, it gets black inserts for the headlamps and body-coloured wing mirrors with turn indicators. Inside, the cabin is all-black and features power windows, central locking, tilt and telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel and air-conditioning. Thankfully, Volkswagen is offering ABS and dual airbags as standard across all three variants.
Comfortline
The more expensive Comfortline variant, retailing at Rs 5.88 lakh, adds a lot more features into the mix. There’s dual-tone interiors, cooled glove box, cruise control, height adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjustable mirrors and a 4-speaker audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The Comfortline variant also gets front and rear fog lamps and one-touch operation for all four power windows.
Highline
As the most expensive variant of the lot, the Ameo Highline is packed to the brim with features. It gets the same set of high-end features as the Vento which means there’s a lot of segment first features in here. You get static cornering lights, rain sensing wipers and cruise control as standard. Besides these, Volkswagen is offering the usual assortment of features such as alloy wheels, chrome inserts on the dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, reverse parking camera with sensors climate control and electrically foldable wing mirrors. Lastly, there’s a touchscreen audio system with steering mounted audio controls and voice command.
