The mystery sedan from Maruti Suzuki codenamed as 'YL1' was none other than the 'Ciaz' . The India's largest car manufacturer, has recently showcased its mid-sized sedan at the Auto Expo event held in Delhi. The Ciaz is said to be based on an all-new design philosophy from the Japanese car-maker that has utilized designing cues from the ‘Authentics Concept’, which was showcased at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.

As per sources, the Ciaz sedan is slated to be launched sometime by second half of 2014. The Ciaz will enter the Indian automobile market loaded with a 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine that is also found under the Ertiga's hood, along with a 1.6-litre diesel engine, which will most probably be supplied by Fiat. The engine is expected to be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It is also said that the company is expected to be introduced in an AMT variant. Moreover, sources have stated that the car may feature infotainment system with Bluetooth, AC with climate control, cooled glove box, steering mounted audio controls in the interiors. For safety, the sedan may be loaded with ABS and EBD technology. Though Maruti Suzuki refused to divulge details about it, a company official confirmed that the mid-sized sedan is built on a new platform and will be a completely new car for Suzuki’s global range.

Maruti Suzuki had also showcased the much awaited ‘S-Cross’ at the Auto Expo 2014 event held last month in Delhi. The car is expected to be powered with 1.6 litre petrol engine which is capable of delivering 120 PS of power with 156 Nm of torque. It is anticipated that SX4 crossover may also be available in a diesel version powered by Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet engine. On first look, the car reminds us of the good old car Suzuki Grand Vitara. The current version that was unveiled at Auto Expo 2014 seems to be similar to the one showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. The launch date and pricing for the 'S-Cross’ has not been revealed for now and may be known at a later date.

Amidst all the speculations, things are expected to reach on solid grounds post an official announcement made by the Indian car-maker. But based on the showcased version of the Ciaz sedan at the Auto Expo, it is anticipated that the car may be a success in the Indian market owing to smart design, along with performance and reliability factors that comes naturally with the Maruti Suzuki line in the country.
